다야마 가타이(田山花袋)의「생(生)」의 고찰

Consideration of "the life" of Katai Tayama

The life" is a work published serially in "the Yomiuri Shimbun" from April 13, 1908 to July 19. It is the first full-length novel for Katai Tayama. As for the trilogy and the reason, "the life", as for "the wife", "the relationship" speaks the thought of the author to material in wives led by mother with a "wife" "relationship" written successively from 40 through 43 until Meiji 32 through 37 in 1898. It is the work which I pictured the event that there is anywhere in openly while letting the human fate "death" that cannot bloom and it and contrastive "life" run side by side at such a bride and mother-in-law, mother and major children, the home of Japan. Indeed, there was not it, and the place that the feature of the life made smoothly appeared. While I strongly impressed the chest of then people with it heavily, and it was said with "like a dirty picture of the house in a back street tenement house", I couldn't but confess it with "a problem to approach to us pressingly though unpleasant". The voice of many favorable receptions depended on the author who I shook off all show and display, compromise, and drew "life" as new art in this way. When "it did not mean that I made at all light of the said article even if I considered that at first Katai Tayama was best" with "life", it was praised and was a good work of the reputation than the straw mat which there was not of the inferiority at all even if I compared it with "spring" of Toson Shimazaki of the competitor.
