물류거점화와 항만운영의 효율적 관계설정에 관한 연구

In the age of 21st century, the world has established and implemented new economic order which stands for WTO and other liberalised economic mechanism. This means that goods and services traded between bilateral countries could be transacted freely regardless of their country of origin and then we can assume that this world is getting more and more closely inter-related circle that leads the beardless world. In this situations, competition is a common word wherever we are in, either foreign or domestic markets. In relation to international logistics, we used to regard seaport as node in the process of international physical distribution, and currently it has been exposed on international competition severely between other nearby foreign seaports. So, to be more competitive, today's seaport has to be reborn and re-think what they have been so far and what they have to do from now on. One of alternatives is to promote their transshipment functions up to compete their foreign seaports, here, Singapore has provided the answer for that. In the fierce competitive market of seaport industry, it is strongly required that management in port authority should think the circumstances around them which competitiveness is the first priority they always have to keep in mind. In practice, some methodologies can be taken by port authority in terms of strategic approach, such as set up of port information system, upgraded quality of services, etc. In addition, as far as transshipment is concerned, time, cost and service quality should be considered in the view of competition. Then, it is expected that this kind of approach to transshipment should give port authority clear answer to their competitive strategy as well as market-oriented way of thinking. However, the most important suggestion acquired from this study is to realise what the willingness and the perception that Singaporean has, that is private way of thinking.
