An Empirical Study on the Decision Making Factors Influencing Oil Supply for Domestic Refineries

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the optimum quantity of the oil supply into Korea and the influence of the decision making factors by domestic oil refineries in oil tanker services. For this empirical study, the year 1999 was adopted for a optimum oil quantity as a basic year and ten decision making factors were draw through questionnaires, interviewing with specialists working for chartering companies and preceeding papers. There are 10 hypotheses which were set up under the background of tanker fleet operation. The findings through the regression analysis shows that seven out of ten factors are all had a positive effect on the optimum quantity of oil supply. But the rest factors are all had a negative effect on the optimum quantity of oil supply.
