Under the WTO regime, the globalization of present world economy is expected to be accelerated. The neighboring countries, which have pursed their economic common benefits, have formed“economic bloc”in order to attain their economic cooperation at the same time. In parallel to its domestic arena, but also to be extended to the various world markets. Under these economic circumstances, most of businesses all over the world have recognized the importance of physical distribution management. They are maintaining efficiently domestic and overseas physical distribution. It can be said that the business's international competitiveness in the world markets is a kind of important factor for growth of the domestic business and the development of Korean economy. Korean sea transportation, formed the main part of physical distribution, plated role in the national economy. The port, in which much of import-export cargo are handled, is one of the important facilities in the SOC(social overhead capital) in Korea as well as in the other countries. On the basis of these facts, this research, first of all, focused on the Korean ports, its development and its role in the Korean economy. As one of the important facilities in the key industries, the port in Korea has greatly influenced in the achievements in the fields of national security and foreign-oriented economic development. This thesis is based on the empirical study, which set up a probability choice model and implemented mail and interview survey on the decision factor of port choice. The aim of thesis is to analyze and estimate the decision factor in the Korean trader's port choice, in order to promote the efficient management and development of Korean ports.
