A Study on the Improvement Schemes for Port Development Investment System in Korea according to China Port Development Strategy

Recently, there are radical changes of port logistics environments in Northeast Asia, especially, China has made aggressive development in Chinese port development strategy. In this situation, the efficient and speedy port development investment strategies in Korea are essential to secure competitive position in Northeast Asia. The port development in Korea is carried out normally by the central government, even though Korean government deregulated the laws and regulations related to port development investment and has been trying to induce the private capital in port sector after 1980's, that is the reason, port development investment has unique characteristics, such as suck cost, low profitability, too large scale of subsidiary project and insufficiency of project financing, but, in these days. Korea government is facing with speedy investment in port industry due to Chinese port development, this means multiful and focused investment is necessary to early construct port facilities. Therefore this study aims to suggest some improvement schemes for port development investment in Korea. The objectives of this study examines and present as follows. first, existing literature related to Chinese port development strategy was surveyed. second, bench-marked some major advance port development system. third, the present situation and characteristics, related to laws, of Korean port development investment system was discussed. fourth, the necessity of mutiful port development investment in Korea was presented. finally, summarized the whole study and conclusion was presented.
