This Essay, which is based on PSPD(999), is intended to invistigates the outcomes and limits of business-restructuring at 1998-99 years, focused on the variation of the diversification and internal transaction in the four biggest Chaebol. This two-year forms the strating point of business-restructuring process after 97-year-crisis. In theoretical aspects, diversification and internal transaction can be more efficient than specification and exteonal transaction, in virtue of ‘economy of scope’ (A. D. Chandler, 1990) and ‘transaction cost’ (0. E. Willimson, 1985). but, in Korea’s Chaebols, diversification has been mainly maintained and strengthened even through internal transaction for non-profotable affiliate firms. according to our invistigation, diversification index of the four biggest Chaebol at 1998-99 years is decreasing, comparatively with that at 97-year. But That is mainly owned to bull-up of stock market at 1999 year, and it does not yet seem to have perished internal transaction for non-profitable affiliate firms.
