Toward A Four-Bridge Application Paradigm in Expository Preaching

강해설교에 있어서 네 다리 놓기를 통한 적용 패러다임 연구

강해설교의 적용이란 성경의 세계와 오늘의 세계 사이에 존재하는 간격을 다리 놓는 해석학적 작업이라고 할 수 있다. 해석학 영역들에 있어서 적절하게 균형잡힌 이론적 적용 모델의 부재와 현대 설교학에 있어서 삶을 변혁시키는 적용 패러다임의 부재의 현상에 직면하여, 이 논문은 적법한 적용 패러다임의 필요성과 대안적 방법론을 제시하고자 하는데 그 의의가 있다. 이를 위해, 본 논문은 해석학과 적용 사이의 관계를 재정립함으로써, 여러 학자들이 제시한 적용 방법론 혹은 다리놓기 패러다임들을 재분석함으로써, 나아가 성도들의 삶을 변혁시키기 위한 네 다리놓기 패러다임을 재조명함으로써 궁극적으로 해석학적 적용패러다임의 청사진을 제시해 보고자 한다. 지금까지 제시된 적용 패러다임으로써 다리놓기 모델들을 재평가한 후에, 본 논문은 적합한 해석학적 적용 패러다임의 필요성을 다음의 네 가지로 제시할 것이다: 1) 두 세계 놓여있는 간격들, 2) 최근에 제시된 적용 패러다임들의 공헌과 한계들, 3) 적용 패러다임으로써 해석학적 다리놓기에 대한 몇몇 학자들의 반대주장들, 4) 성경적인 설교모델과 역사적 모델들에 뿌리를 둔 적절한 적용 패러다임의 필요성. 나아가 이러한 해석학적 네 가지 이유들을 기초로 하여, 본 논문은 더욱 구체적인 해석학적 기초, 성경에 나타난 설교와 적용 패러다임의 분석(예, 바울의 설교에 나타난 적용 해석학 패러다임), 역사적 모델의 원문 설교분석(예, 칼빈의 적용 패러다임), 성경적, 역사적 모델들에 나타난 원리들에 뿌리를 둔 네 다리놓기와 체계적인 적용지향적 강해설교 패러다임에 대한 연구의 필요성과 방향성을 제시 할 것이다.

Application in expository preaching is the hermeneutical mechanism to bridge the gap between the ancient world and the contemporary world. In response to the absence of a well-balanced theoretical relevance model in hermeneutical areas and a lack of a life-changing application paradigm in contemporary homiletics, this dissertation is to suggest the necessity of a legitimate application paradigm. I attempt to identify the necessity of a hermeneutical application paradigm by redrawing the relationship between hermeneutics and application, by reexamining some scholars’ application paradigms and bridge-building models, and by refocusing the four bridge paradigm for transforming the audience’s lives. In reevaluating a few bridgebuilding application models, I point out the following reasons of the necessity for an appropriate application paradigm: (1) the ostensible gaps, (2) some limitations and inappropriateness of recent applicational bridge paradigms, (3) a few scholars’ objections to bridge-building, and (4) the need of a legitimate application paradigm rooted in biblical and historical models. With the four reasons of the dispensability of an application paradigm in mind, this study suggests the necessity of further examinations: (1) hermeneutical foundations, (2) biblical models, (3) historical prototypes, and (4) the four-bridge application paradigm.
