彌勒寺址 石塔과 隨 · 唐代 亭閣型佛塔과의 比較

A Comparison study with The Mireuksa temple site pagoda and the Pavilion style pagoda in China– Sui(隨)·Dang(唐) period -

한나라의 시원양식을 이루는 석탑의 양식 근원과 특성을 규명하기 위해서 가장 좋은 방법은 같은 시기에 건립된 다른 나라의 탑과 비교해 보는 것이 가장 타당성이 있다고 생각한다. 필자는 이런 관점에서 중국의 초기 불탑사의 한 축을 이루었던 亭閣型佛塔과 미륵사지 석탑과의 비교고찰을 시도해 보았다. 이는 정각형 불탑이 북위시대로부터 건립되기 시작했고, 목조건축의 양식이 가장 잘반영되어 있다고 판단했기 때문이었다. 뿐만 아니라 석재로 건립된 사문탑은 건립연대 가 비슷한 시점에 놓여 있어 더욱 비교의 대상이 되기에 충분한 조건을 지니고 있었다. 결과적으로 미륵사지석탑과 정각형 불탑은 외관상 목조건축의 양식을 구현하고 있었지만, 내부적으로 들여다보면 양식과 구조는 물론 탑이 건립되는 목적성에 이르기 까지 각각 독자적인 특성을 지니고 있음이 확인되었다. 7세기 초반에 백제에서 미륵사지 석탑을 통해 이룩한 재료의 변환과 기술력은 바로 중국의 불탑문화와는 완전히 차별화된 것이었다. 뿐만 아니라 석탑에 구현된 제반 양식과 기술력은 신라로 계승되고 더욱 발전해 한국 석탑의 定型을 확립하는데 시금석이 된 것으로 생각된다. 따라서 불교문화의 한 축을 이루는 불탑은 중국은 중국대로, 한국은 한국대로 각각의 자연환경과 축적된 기술력을 바탕으로 독자적인 문화를 구축했던 것으로 생각된다. 결과적으로 미륵사지 석탑은 北魏로 부터 唐代에 이르기 까지 이룩된 조탑 기술에서 영향을 받은 것이 아니라 백제가 창안한 새로운 양식의 석탑으로 밝혀졌다.

The best way to study about the stone pagoda which was made for the first time in Korea is comparison study with Chinese stone pagoda. The Mireuksa temple site pagoda is the first stone pagdoa in Korea. This paper research about the Mireuksa temple site pagoda how to related with the pavilion style pagoda in China. The pavilion style pagodas were made in northern wei dynasty(北魏). This pagoda copied from wooden building. The Mireuksa temple site pagoda also copied from wooden building. In this article, The Mireuksa temple site pagoda compared with Four Gates pagoda. Both of them were made similiar period. This kind of condition could help making good comparison study. Although Both of the stone pagoda copied from wooden building, they have different style and form. Also they have different building purpose, even inside of pagoda have different shape. The Mireuksa temple site pagoda was made in around early 7th century. At that time Bakje(百濟) had a high technique to build stone stupa. This kind of building culture was very unique. This culture delivered to the unified Shilla. Finally, in the unified Shilla the stone pagoda’s definite form was made. In conclusion the pagod which is one of the most important Buddhist culture have been developed it’s culture in the each environment. Although Korea is situated near China, the stone pagod culture is very unique. Especially The Mireuksa temple site pagoda which was the first made stone pagoda in Korea shows the distinctive features. The reason is that The Mireuksa temple site pagoda was invented by Bakje people.
