For the last decade, the interest in online lectures has increased, leading to the development of the social status of cyber universities and the quality of online lectures. In this article, based on my teaching experience from HanyangCyber University, I discuss three characteristics of online lectures that can be taken into consideration for improving educational programs in English departments. Though there are problems and restrictions with cyber education, the adoption of new methods from online classes to the traditional off-line classes will contribute to the development of effective teaching methods that accommodate the demands of new generations. I first discuss the effectiveness of team teaching, where four nonnative speaker instructors and a native speaker cooperate to plan, prepare, and teach a class based on each individual’s expertise. Secondly, I present the animated multimedia resources that were created by the instructors themselves with the cooperation of web designers and voice actors/actresses. Finally, I discuss the most effective devices used in cyber classes for promoting the participation of students. Interestingly, students tend to feel more comfortable and participate more actively in web-based communication than they do in a traditional classroom. Therefore, considering changing educational circumstances and students' characteristics, the effective combination of online and offline learning, which is generally called blended learning, can be a model for higher education.
