대학생의 취업사교육 참여와 사교육비 지출

Analysis on the Differences in the Participation and Cost of Private Tutoring for Employment of College Students

이 논문은 대학생의 사교육의 참여 유무와 총 사교육비 및 유형별 사교육비 지출의 차이를 분석하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 검정하기 위해 성별, 학년, 전공계열 및 대학의 설립유형 등을 고려하여 대구･경북 지역 소재 대학생 720명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 조사내용은 대학생의 취업 사교육에 대한 인식, 참여도 및 사교육비 지출규모 등이다. 분석 결과 응답자의 46.9%가 사교육에 참여하였고, 학생 1인당 연간 134만원의 사교육비를 지출하였다. 이 중 외국어 관련 사교육비를 가장 많이 지출하였으며, 다음으로 전공실무 관련 사교육비, 각종 시험준비 관련 사교육비 순이었다. 중요한 연구결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 사교육 참여 유무에 있어서는 성별, 학년, 평점, 전공계열 변인에서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 남학생에 비해 여학생이, 학년이 높아질수록, 평점이 높을수록, 그리고 자연계열에서 사교육 참여율이 높았다. 반대로 대학의 취업관련 교육 환경 만족도와 전공 관련 만족도가 높을수록 사교육 참여율이 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 이는 대학의 지속적인 취업지원 노력과 산업계의 요구에 부합되는 교육과정 개발이 대학생의 사교육 참여를 줄이는 데 기여할 수 있음을 시사한다. 둘째, 총 사교육비의 지출에 있어서는 학년, 부(父)의 학력, 월평균 소득 변인에서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 학년, 부의학력, 월평균 소득이 높을수록 총 사교육비를 많이 지출하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 유형별 사교육비 중 외국어 관련 사교육비의 지출은 학년, 부의 학력, 월 평균 소득 변인에서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 이는 총 사교육비의 많은 부분을 외국어 관련 사교육비가 차지하기 때문에 나타난 결과라고 볼 수 있다. 다음으로 시험준비 관련 사교육비 지출은 성별 변인에서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보였고, 남자가 여자보다 많은 비용을 지출하고 있었다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the differences in the participation and cost of private tutoring for employment of college students. To accomplish this purpose, questionnaire method was adopted for this study. The questionnaire was composed of 14 question items asking about private tutoring for employment of college students. Total 720 college students at random classifying universities were selected as the subjects of the survey. Based on the above analysis, the conclusions of the study are as follows: Firstly, there were statistically significant differences in the private tutoring participation by sex, grade, GPA, major, satisfaction on college environment, satisfaction on major, and function of private tutoring. Female students, high graders, students with high GPA, and students majoring in Natural Sciences were more involved in private tutoring. Secondly, there were statistically significant differences in total private tutoring cost by grade, educational background of father, and parents' income. Students having higher grade, higher educational background of father, and higher parents' income spent more money as total private tutoring cost. Thirdly, there were statistically significant differences in private tutoring cost related to foreign language by grade, educational background of father, and parents' income. These results are the same as those of total private tutoring cost and it may be reason that many part of them consisted of private tutoring cost related to foreign language. There were statistically significant differences in private tutoring cost related to preparation for various examinations by sex. Male students spent more money as private tutoring cost related to preparation for various examinations.
