우리나라 제3자물류 기업의 IT 역량 요인들과 사업성과 간의 관계 연구

A Study on the Relationships among Factors of Information Technology Capabilities, and Business Performance

최근 글로벌 경영환경은 제3자물류기업(3PL)들이 협력기업과의 상호이익을 위한 경쟁우위확보에 다각적인 노력을 기울이고 있다. 글로벌 물류경영의 패러다임 변화는 개별기업에서 연관 산업간의 기업 연계활동 경쟁구조로 전환되고 있다. 제3자 물류기업들이 IT 역량의 요인을 도출하고, 먼저 선행되어야 할 기술지항성 요인과 자본 역량 요인을 파악하여 요인간의 구조적 관계를 파악하였다. 그 결과 3PL 기업의 사업성과 향상에 IT 인프라 확장과 모듈 형태 체계화로 다양한 응용시스템 취급이 가능한 높은 호환성이 가능하여야한다. 또한 정보기술 향상과 정보시스템 개발의 중요성을 인식하여 3PL 기업의 IT 역량을 향상시킬 수 있다. IT 담당자가 기업의 사업 목적과 IT 부서의 전략 방향을 일치시킬 때, IT 역량을 향상시켜서 3PL 기업의 고객만족도와 경쟁 기업들의 진입장벽을 높이고, 저렴한 비용으로 서비스를 제공하여 기업의 영업이익과 매출액을 향상하여 기업의 사업성과를 향상할 수 있다. 제3자물류 기업은 무형 자원과 IT 인프라를 구축하여 사업 파트너들을 통합 네트워크 활용 노력을 기울이고 있다. 이들 기업들의 IT 역량은 EDI, RFID, CPFR 등의 활용수준에 적합한 어플리케이션 플랫폼을 제공하고 있다. 결과적으로 IT를 활용하고 있는 제3자 물류기업들과 협력을 구축하고 있는 기업들 간 비용감축을 통한 기업의 부가가치 창출에 유용한 요인들을 도출할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. 따라서 제3자 물류기업들이 IT 역량을 향상시켜 호환성 있는 정보교류를 바탕으로 기업내 의사결정 및 프로세스개선 등의 성과가 도출되었다. 물류 사용업자들에게 효율적이고 비용절감을 유도하여 향후 기업들이 기업 내 의사결정 및 현안과제 개선 등의 부가가치 창출에 유용한 정보이다.

Within the current global supply management environment Third Party Logistics providers (3PL) are exerting diversified efforts, including leveraging their IT resources, for achieving mutual benefits with affiliated companies in order to gain a competitive advantage. This new business strategy reflects a paradigm shift in global supply management whereby logistics companies which once used to compete for market share in the global logistics arena are now cooperating with each another to increase their bottom line. The study introduces certain critical factors of IT competency among 3PL to understand how 3PL are utilizing their IT resources and it investigates the relationship among those critical factors of IT competency. 3PL that recognize the importance of developing and improving IT and information systems can enhance their IT competency. IT managers of 3PL could improve the company’s IT competency by reconciling the company’s business objective and strategic direction of the company’s IT division. At the same time, relationships between IT managers and other department managers could improve and customer satisfaction with the 3PL could increase. Enhancing IT competency among 3PL could also make it more difficult for new competitors to enter the market, provide services at lower rates, and increase sales turnover. All these factors could strengthen the business competitiveness of 3PL. Moreover, to strengthen competitive advantage, 3PL should facilitate their compatibilities which can deal with various applied systems through the extension of IT infrastructure and the systemization of module forms. The IT infrastructure and IT resources of 3PL can help establish a network among 3PL, their customers, and their business partners. Meanwhile the IT competency of 3PL provides a platform for launching diverse business applications. such as EDI, RFID, and CPFR. Effect utilization of these applications could reduce costs for logistic users in as well create internal added value for 3PL such as the improvement of business decision making.
