A Study of Body Art used Camouflage

Body art is well-established as a part of avant-garde art, not just as a way of expressing the aesthetic world, utilizing both visual gorgeousness and dynamic expression. This study has attempted to investigate camouflage art, which had a significant impact on many artists, and analyze camouflage art styles and artists in order to uncover its modern meaning and diversities. According to this study, camouflage art is divided into four categories; body painting camouflage, object & space-based camouflage, camouflage-based painting expression and performance camouflage. Based on these four techniques, camouflage art has been expressed in diverse genres. In terms of the limitations of this study, there have been few studies on diverse expression methods except for the said four methods due to poor understanding and a lack of data on camouflage art. In addition, it was difficult to apply an aesthetic approach to camouflage art from a mimetic perspective. However, it is expected that this study will help artists create more diverse camouflage-based body art designs.
