Sustainable Marine Tourism Development Focusing on Gogunsan Islands

Tourism development policy at the governmental level have focused the inland development for many years. But under the background of appointment of Namhaean tourism belt(NTB) and Jeju Free Trading Zone, propelling of 2010 Marine Expo, governmental tourism policy converts to the marine tourism now. In the case of Jeonbuk, Saemangum estuary which will be opened at 2004, assist to invite the foreign and domestic tourists considerably. This study is aimed to give the several ideas in the tourism development of Gogunsan Islands under the philosophy of sustainable development. Conclusively, this study recommends the master marine tourism development plan of such islands, the urgent commencement of Gunsan international marine tourism complex, creation of an all-weather fishing park, the building of marine health center, restoration of 'Gogunsanjin', enactment of sustainable tourism ethic, etc.
