책만들기 활동이 유아의 언어 표현력과 그림 표현력에 미치는 효과

Effects of Book-making on Young Children's Expressive Language and Drawing Abilities

본 연구의 목적은 책만들기 활동이 유아의 언어 표현력과 그림 표현력에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 알아보고자 하는 것이다. 연구대상은 서울에 위치한 두 유치원에 재원 중인 만5세 유아 46명으로, 유치원 한 곳은 실험집단으로 다른 한 곳은 통제집단으로 무선 배정하였다. 8주에 걸쳐 총 16회의 책만들기 활동을 실시한 결과, 실험집단 유아들은 통제 집단 유아들에 비해 언어표현력과 그림 표현력에서 통계적으로 유의미한 향상을 보였다. 본 연구의 결과는 유아기의 책만들기 활동은 유아의 언어 표현력 뿐 아니라 그림 표현력 향상에도 긍정적인 영향을 미친다는 것을 시사하는 것이다.

This study examined the effects of book-making on young children's expressive language and drawing abilities. Participants in this study included 46 five-year-old children attending two kindergartens in Seoul. The participants were randomly assigned to an experimental or a control group. The children in the experimental group took part in 16 book-making sessions over 8 weeks. All children were individually tested on the ‘Language Expression Test’ and the ‘Drawing Expression Test’ before and after the activities. The data analysis was performed by ANCOVA. According to the results of the research, the children in the experimental group who participated in book-making activities showed statistically significant enhancements in all sub-areas of language and drawing expression compared to the children in the control group. The results indicated that book-making activities were effective for enhancing young children's language and drawing expression abilities.
