A local festival celebrating regularly from certain areas is a ceremony which its’ local culture is blended in and symbolized, and can play a role as an important tourism features. Since development of a local festival has cultural, social and economical boosting effects, famous tourism sites from around the world have held and expressed their local cultural values and customs regularly, and are having positive results by developing and advertising their local cultural festivals, thereby luring the tourists in. Since these cultural festivals have boosting effects in tourism activities, in areas where there are not many outstanding tourism resources, not only its’ value jumps up, but also can be an effective marketing device. So, a need for study upon the effects that these local festivals produce by providing activity basis and opportunities, giving various sight seeing and enjoyable chances, and which influences local area image is strongly being aroused. This study have focused on participation and satisfactions of the participants from Seoul cultural festival(Hi Seoul Festival), whether the festival have played its’ role effectively, and intends to develop an active method to boost the festival up by enhancing positive parts and problems. So, this study results is intended to notify importance of these cultural festivals, and by connecting the image of Seoul which is our national capital with the cultural festivals, can ultimately enhance image of Korea along with the image of tourism country.
