The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of social and personal norms on recycling behavior of university students. Survey data from one hundred and forty five university students were collected and analyzed using SPSS(ver 10.0). The major findings were as follows. First, social norms had a positive impact on personal norms(standard β = .477**, p=0.002) and recycling behavior(standard β = .093**, p=0.000). Second, personal norms did not affect recycling behavior(standard β = .062, p=0.20) These results suggests that the enlightenment of university students was required for encouraging the recycling behavior, which enhances social norms.
