After regaining their independence in 1945. We have developed our own grammatical theories in South and North Korea. However, now as we are to face the reunification era, we should get over language differences and prepare a unified prescriptive grammar for the reunified country. There are a lot of differences in grammatical system and terminology between the two Koreas. In the North Korean grammar, pure Korean terminology is widely used and this should be positively accommodated in the unified grammar. In addition, North Korean ‘to-munbeop(토문법)’ would better be accepted as the third typological system in Korean Linguistics. Syntax and other grammatical fields in South Korea which have been developed in depth, will make the unified grammar rich and systematic. Linguists of two Koreas need to gather in one place and try hard to establish a unified grammar for the reunified country sooner rather than later. In doing this, if it is too dificult to unify their different opinions, we would better accept two at the moment. However, we expect mutual consent in most cases. Grammatical problems of two Koreas should be discussed and decided from a purely linguistic point of view.
