Spacing is one of the orthography to read and write a text effectively. In east oriental countries, there is not the spacing orthography. People wrote the letters continuously without intermission. Also in traditional Korean orthography there are the chinese punctuation and particle-addition for reading and writing. But 100 years ago Doknipsinmun which was first published in 1896 practiced spacing orthography to write with a space between each words. That was a revolutionary event of orthography. Modern orthography was established in Hangeul Unified Orthography which was made public in 1933. This was revised in 1988. As Korean spacing orthography has some difficult and complex problems, spacing orthography was revised partially several times. Because of the ideological division of Korea, North Korea has unique orthography. They published the North Korean orthography in 1948, and revised it in 1954, 1966, and 1987. But in 2000 North Korea revised just only the spacing orthography which is a part of whole orthography. Old spacing orthography of North Korea point to write the words continuously and adjacently in case of many verbal or nominal phrase, especially a bound verbal construction, a bound nominal construction and a phrasal compound word. In this case South Korean orthography point to space out words. But now north Korea revised the spacing rule to space out words in case of a bound verbal construction and some nominal phrase. As a result, some spacing rules of two Korea could be to become one unified orthography for the coming unified Korea.
