An analysis of North Korean TV drama

This study investigates how Kim Jongil regime propagandize North Korea’s political system. It analyzes North Korean TV drama. The first purpose of political propaganda is the idolization of Kim Jongil. In dramas, Kim Jongil is described as the highest man of power drawing out submission and praise of the people. But he has not accomplished the political and economic results, and still depends on the glory of Kim Ilsung. So somewhat changed economic policy is attempted, but it cannot solve the economic crisis and only compel the people to endure the lack of food. On the other hand, viewers of TV drama do not have good feelings toward idolization propaganda of Kim Jongil. It means the propaganda has failed to persuade the people. In general, the people of North Korea are dissatisfied with political power due to economic difficulties, therefore Kim Jongil’s political propaganda is in the stage of no effect. From the results of above, an explanation is possible that the mutual adaptation exists between political power and the people no longer. Now the political leader Kim Jongil has not succeeded in public pursuasion and has not received the consent of the people.
