This research investigated to find out the possibilities of applying FRP to the AUV’s material. In this study, two kinds of metal materials, which is one of the popularly used materials for manufacturing AUVs, and 6 kinds of FRP materials were selected. Material properties of FRP were investigated by mechanical and physical tests. Moreover, the material properties were applied to the structural analysis. From the simulation, we can find out that the weight of AUV by CFRP-Autoclave could reduce 60% of weight relate to the AUV by Al7075-T6 and 40% of weight could be reduced relative to the AUV by Ti-6AI-4V. In addition, the material of CFRP-Autoclave have sufficient mechanical properties comparing to Al alloy and Ti alloy by structural analysis.
