Development of small hydropower can be a good countermeasure for the environmental problems. The small hydropower is clean energy because the small hydropower generates a few CO₂ Moreover, as the energy density by the small hydropower is high, it is economical for a society which want to introduce the system. In this study, performance of a 5㎾-c1ass Cross-flow hydro turbine model is measured by experiment. Guide vane angle gives considerable effect on the performance. The results show that optimum guide vane angle should be determined in consideration of the effective head and flow rate. Additional improvement of the turbine performance can be achieved by the optimization of the nozzle shape, which is also a very important factor to the turbine performance.
