A Study on the Globalization of International Freight Forwarder in Korea

The purpose of this study is to analyze the present situation and problems that Korean international freight forwarders are facing and to present efficient strategies for the globalization of korean forwarders. Korean logistics providers have some problems such as small scale of organization and capital, decrease of income due to fierce competition, lack of transportation system and SOC, shortage in professionals in international logistics, business practice based on interpersonal business relationship rather than business capabilities between shippers and carriers and etc. It is necessary for international freight forwarders to be globalized. Government and shippers should do their best respectively to pursue the right policies for the globalization of international freight forwarders. The freight forwarders and government need to construct logistics networks, develop logistics markets actively, raise professionals in logistics and enlarge or specialize their services thus being global service providers. Also shippers and freight forwarders should try to do their business based on their business abilities to provide quality logistics services.
