Professional translation and amateur translation differ in their purposes and functions and so, they should be evaluated differently. In educational settings, process-oriented translation evaluation is advised together with product-oriented evaluation. Also, not only translation errors but also successful/creative translation should be considered when evaluating student translations. In this paper, four translation evaluation methods are introduced which can be easily adopted in class: quantitative/qualitative holistic approach and quantitative/qualitative error analysis. Also, based on some guidelines for pedagogical translation evaluation, ‘a quadripartite model for pedagogical translation evaluation’ is introduced which incorporates translation product and process and errors and creative translation.
