전국영어관련학과 실태조사 및 개선방향연구

A Study on the Present Situation and the Fundamentals for the Future Improvement of University Level of English Related Departments in Korea

영어관련학과들은 1990년이후 국제화의 조류 속에서 각자 개선의 방향을 걸어왔다. 이를 전국적으로 통계조사하여 문제점과 현황을 파악하여 개선방향을 제시하는 것이 시급하며 중요한 시점이다. 본 논문은 2010년 5월7월 사이 전국 54개 대학을 대상으로 학생과 교수에게 실시한 1) 전공체제/인원, 2) 명칭/개선사항, 3) 교과과정/수업, 4) 진로/취업지도, 5) 영어능력/원어강의, 6) 해외연수등의 4050개 문항의 설문조사결과를 통계적으로 분석하여 영어관련학과가 향후 개선방안을 마련 할 때 반드시 유념해야 할 중요한 필수사항들을 제시하고 있다. 이중 가장 핵심적인 사항은 영어구사능력의 확보전략을 기반으로 영어자체로서의 취업경쟁력확보를 위한 교과과정을 포함한 학과명칭, 이수형태, 인증제시행, 해외연수개선에 대한 것이다.

The purpose of this study is to observe the present situation of Korean universities by the nationwide questionnaires to students and faculty members and to suggest the fundamental solutions based on the result of the questionnaires. The result of the survey, which was give to 138 professors and 651 students in the spring of 2010 and is statistically analyzed shows that English related departments in particular are now on the point of checking and improving their programs comprehensively because the employment rate of their graduates has been too low; 1) the format and title of the English related departments; 2) the curriculum; 3) counseling programs; 4) intensive English program in and out of the country.
