한문서간 연구의 현황과 과제

Status & Task of research on letter in classical Chinese : Focused on the research history on letter in classical Chinese in Josun Dynasty

본고는 조선시대 한문서간에 대한 전문적인 연구에 한정하여 그 현황과 과제를 살폈다. 한문서간에 대한 관심은 그것이 비교적 사적인 의사표현수단으로서 작자의 생평과 교유관계에 관한 정보를 알려주고, 진솔한 내면세계와 구체적인 일상생활을 보여준다는 점에 있었다. 이 점에서 金正喜와 丁若鏞의 서간이 이른 시기부터 주목을 받았다. 2000년 이후로는 尺牘小品에 대한 연구가 논의를 주도하는 한편, 여러 문인의 서간에 대한 다각적인 조명이 이루어졌다. 許筠, 申靖夏, 朴趾源, 李德懋, 南公轍, 趙熙龍등 이른바 척독소품 작가에 대한 연구는 무척 활발하였으며, 이들의 독서기록, 장서실태, 교유관계 등을 검토하여 晩明 척독소품의 영향 관계를 밝히려는 시도가 진행되었다. 서간의 서식 및 용어에 대한 연구 역시 최근에 큰 성과를 거두었다. 서간의 양식적 특성에 대한 연구는 상당한 수준에 도달하였다. 다만 공시적인 관점의 연구는 풍부한 반면, 통시적인 접근을 시도한 연구는 찾아보기 어렵다. 서간의 서지적 특성을 비롯하여 서식 및 용어, 문제 등에서 시대적인 특성을 발견하려는 시도는 계속되어야 한다. 또한 축자적인 이해로는 서간의 자료적 가치를 온전히 드러낼 수 없으므로 서간이 오간 구체적인 정황을 파악하여 맥락을 재구하고 의미를 부여할 필요가 있다. 이 과정에서 서간의 위작을 판별하고, 서간서식집의 편자와 편찬경위를 고증하는 작업도 필수적이다. 이밖에 조선시대 한문서간에 미친 『歐蘇手簡』, 『朱子書節要』등의 영향관계, 서간을 통한 동아시아 문화교류, 그리고 문집에 수록된 서간과 실물서간을 아우르는 연구가 필요하다.

This article examined the research status & task limited to specialized study with respect to letter in classical Chinese in Josun dynasty. Of the interest in the letter in Chinese lies in the points that it reveals life, information about companionship, candid inner world, and specific daily living of the authors. In this respect, the letters of Kim Jung Hee(金正喜) and Jung Yak Yong (丁若鏞) have received high attentions from earlier times. Since the year 2000, the discussions have been focused to the study on Cheokdoksopum(尺牘小品)-epistolary literature, meanwhile diverse studies have been implemented against letters of various literary figures. Researches about the authors of epistolary literature such as Heo Kyun, Shin Jeong-ha, Park Ij-Won, Lee Duck-mu, Nam Gong-cheol, Jo Hee-ryong had been very active, to such an extent that their records of reading, status of book collection, companionship were reviewed attempting to discover the relationship of influence with WanMing epistolary literature. Regarding the study on the forms & terms of letter as well has made a significant achievement in recent days. And the study with regard to the stylistic character about letters has reached to a significant level. Though, the study focused on synchronic approach has been made extensively while the study with the perspective on diachronic approach is rare to be found. The attempt to discover Bibliographical characteristics of letters as well as Age characteristics based on forms, terms, style of writings has to be continued. Also only understanding of literal sign cannot reveal full value of the letters therefore, it appears to be necessary to understand specific situations those letters were sent & received to redefine the circumstances to provide specific meaning of them. In this process, it is very essential to verify historical evidence regarding editor of letter and situation of publication at the same time to determine the forgery of letters. In addition, it is necessary to have comprehensive study which comprises the influential relationship of 『Gusosugan(歐蘇手簡)』， 『Jujaseosulyo(朱子書節要)』 that affected to the letter in classical Chinese of Josun, cultural exchange with East Asia through letters, cross studies between letters in publication and actual letters etc.
