A Study on the " Universities' Ideas and Pragmatism"

This study is about universities' ideas and pragmatism, and the contents are the history and changes of universities, the pro and cons about freedom of studies, the limits of freedom of studies, universities' ideas and pragmatism. This is theoretical, and the development of universities' history and many scholars' theories were studied through the research. The conclusion of this study is this : As the society changes, it's getting more important that university education adds the importance of vocational education in universities' duty along with general education, as well as academic research for truth and studying hard. Owing to the 21st century's information age, the intellectual and industrial society, the technologic age and the cultural variousness, it is realized as a current request that the universities' function and role are emphasized by social needs.
