This study is carried out to investigate the VOCs (Volatile organic compounds) emission characteristics from the manufacturing process of plastic products. Passive sampler was used for the VOCs sampling at the 16 manufacture plants in terms of its simplicity and cost effectiveness. Ten major compounds including BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene) were analysed with GC/FID system. As the results, the concentration of toluene was 3276.6±8463.8ppb(Mean±S.D), the major component in the manufacture of plastic products, while that of benzene was 1.8±2.3ppb . The relative BTEX portion for the manufacture of plastic products was 0:97:1:2, showing that the portion of toluene was very high and those ofethlybenzene and xylene were very low compared with the general results in industrial area. In addition, T/B (toluene/benzene) ratio was very high, 1,800, while it was 4 for background area, 2 for the petroleum refinery industry, and 14 for the Sihwa-Banwol industrial area. The correlation relationship between TEX was relatively high in the manufacture of plastic products.
