그림책을 활용한 확장활동이 5세 유아의 창의성에 미치는 영향

The effects of extension activities using picture books on five-year-old children’s creativity

본 연구에서는 그림책을 활용한 확장활동이 5세 유아의 창의성에 미치는 영향을 확인하고 창의성 향상에 효과적인 교수방법을 모색하는데 그 목적이 있다. D어린이집 만 5세 유아 17명 유아들에게는 그림책을 활용한 확장활동을 경험하게 하였고, H어린이집 만 5세 유아 18명 통제집단의 유아들에게는 그림책을 읽은 후 회상활동 등의 간단한 이야기 나누기를 경험하게 하였다. ‘유아용통합창의성검사’(이경화, 2003) 를 이용한 사전·사후 검사 실시의 결과 그림책을 활용한 확장활동을 적용한 실험집단 유아들이 그림책을 본 후 회상활동 등 간단한 이야기 나누기만을 경험한 통제집단 유아들보다 창의적 성격 검사에서는 유의미한 차이를 보이지 않았지만, 언어창의성 검사와 도형 창의성 검사에서 유의미한 점수를 받았다. 그림책을 활용한 확장활동은 유아의 창의적 능력 향상에 도움이 되는 효과적인 교수-학습 방법이라는 것이 확인되었다.

The purpose of this study was to find out the effects of extension activities using picture books on five-year-old children’s creativity. It is expected that effective teaching methods that promotes creativity will be developed based on the results of this study which investigates whether extension activities using picture books have a positive effect on children in promoting their creativity. The subjects of this study included 17 five-year-old children from D child care center and 18 five-year-old children from H child care center; both centers are located in Y area, Seoul. Test tool used in the study is ‘Early Childhood Integrated Creativity Test’ (Lee Kyung-hwa, 2003) . Children in the experimental group were provided with opportunities to experience extension activities using picture books, while children in the control group were provided with recalling activities such as a simple discussion after reading the picture story books. The results of this study were as follows. children in the experimental group who experienced extension activities using picture books received a significantly higher score in linguistic creativity and geometric creativity test compared to children in the control group who experienced a recalling activity with a simple discussion after reading the picture books. But there was no significant difference in the creative personality test. According to the study results, it was confirmed that extension activities using picture books are effective teaching-learning method beneficial for improving children’s creativity.
