The Alignment of Typology of IS Architecture and Organization Structure

The research proposed categorizing and matching IS structure to the organization by empirically identifying the characteristics of alternative IS architectures and organizational structures. We identified five IS architecture typologies. Five organizational structures were also identified based on distinctiveness in centralization, formalization, and complexity. Then, we verified the matching type of strategic alignment between organization structure and IS architecture. The results of our research gave us the conclusion that organization structure and IS architecture are highly dependent on each other, and there exists a contingent relationship between them.
