역사연구와 기록관리 상호 관계의 패러다임 변화를 통해 본 역사주의와 포스트모더니즘

Historicism and Postmodernism seen from the Paradigm Shift of the Relations between the Historical Studies and Archival Management- with the Views based on the Essentialism and Constructivism -

본고에서 필자는 랑케의 역사주의가 무엇이며 그 인식 및 실천방법을 알아보기 위해 역사주의의 전개와 기록관리 발전의 상호관계를 규명하고자 했다. 포스트모던 담론에 비친 역사주의를 살펴보고 그 비판의 극복 방향과 오해된 측면을 해소하고자 하였다. 역사주의 시대의 기록관리는 무엇이고 패러다임 변화를 꾀하는 포스트모던 시대의 기록관리는 무엇인지 성찰했다. 이 가운데서 역사주의 본질을 다시 규명하고 포스트모더니즘과의 상보관계를 미래 지향적으로 모색해 보았다. 특히 랑케와 그의 제자 지벨 그리고 지벨의 제자 레만의 기록관리 발전을 위한 노력은 역사주의 사상을 실천하고자 하는 노력과 직결되어 있었다. 역사주의 사상에 의해 세상을 인식하는 방법은 실증사학이었으며 실증사학은 기록관리 발전을 필요로 하였다. 기록관리 발전은 역으로 역사주의 사상의 전개와 실천을 뒷받침해 주었다. 포스트모더니즘의 자극을 받아 역사학과 기록학은 패러다임 변화를 꾀하고 있으며 이 양자의 공론장을 통한 만남 속에서 역사주의 실증사학은 오늘날 다시 큰 의미를 가질 수 있다고 본다.

In this article the author tried to explain the essence of the Ranke's historicism. Ranke established the nation as the unit of individuality of his historicism. So the national history was the essential one for him. Ranke developed the positivistic historical science to realize his historicism based on historical resources. Ranke's historical methods developed the archival management and archives. His positivistic historical science was based on the mutual relations between the historians and archivists. Postmodernism criticized the historicism and the positivistic historical science of Ranke. Postmodernism saw the macro discourse of the historicism based nationalism as the cause of the mankind tragedy in the history. Postmodernism regarded the positivistic historical science as the fabrication. It suggested the theory of 'linguistic turn'. Under the influence of the postmodernism historical science and archival science realized the paradigm shift. The micro history, everyday life history, cultural history, oral history became stream. The archival scientists and archivists developed the 'culturally sensitive archives' and 'community archives'. Now the historical science and archival science of the paradigm shift are able to develop historicism and the positivistic historical science of the new dimension.
