청소년 인터넷 게임 과몰입에 대한 가족요인의 영향

The Influence of Family Factors on Overindulgence of Youths' Internet Games.- A Comparative Analysis on Normal Users, Potential Risk Users and High Risk Users -

본 연구의 목적은 청소년 인터넷 게임 과몰입에 대한 가족 요인의 영향을 분석하는 것이다. 가족 요인 중 가족기능과 부모 자녀 간의 의사소통을 주요 변수로 고려하였다. 본 연구는 한국청소년정책연구원에서 중·고등학생 6,499명을 대상으로 수행한 『2009 한국 아동· 청소년 온라인게임 및 가족여가활동 실태 조사』를 분석자료로 사용하였다. 청소년 인터넷 게임 과몰입에 가족요인이 영향을 미치는지와 과몰입의 수준에 따라 일반사용자와 잠재적 위험사용자, 고위험사용자로 구분하여 집단간 가족요인 영향력의 유의미한 차이를 파악하기 위해 일원변량분석과 다항 로지스틱 회귀분석을 이용하였다. 분석결과, 청소년의 인터넷 게임 과몰입에 가족기능과 부모와의 의사소통은 개인적 요인을 통제한 후에도 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 가족기능은 세 집단간에 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났고 부모와의 의사소통은 일반 사용자와 잠재적 위험군간에 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 토대로 인터넷 게임 과몰입의 위험수준별로 그리고 특히 잠재적 위험이 있는 청소년에 대한 예방적 대처로서 가족기능 강화와 부모와의 의사소통 활성화를 위한 실천적 방안을 제시하였다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of family factors about overindulgence of youths' internet games. Family functioning and communication between parents and children were considered as major variables. The data was used from 'Survey on the Online Game and Family Leisure Activities of Youth and Children in 2009(N=6,499)' conducted by Korea Youth Policy Institute. We used ANOVA and multinominal logistic regression analysis to find out if family factors affect youth internet games overindulgence and to identify significant differences in the impact of family factors among groups depending on the level of internet game users. According to the results, family functioning and communication with parents had significant effects on youths' internet game addiction, even after controlling personal factors. It was also observed that there were significant differences in family functioning among the three groups and in communication with parents between normal users and potential risk user. Accordingly, we suggested preventive alternatives to strengthen family functioning and activate communication with parents.
