광주시 일부 남자 고등학생의 거주형태에 따른 식습관 및 식행동에 관한 연구

A Study on Dietary Habits and Dietary Behavior According to High School Boys, Residential Types in Gwangju City

This study compares dietary habits and dietary behavior according to the residential types with 316 high school boys residing in Gwangju city. Mean age of the subjects was 16.8±0.0. Their mean height and weight were 173.8±0.2 cm and 63.9±0.5 kg, respectively. BMI calculated from weight and height was 21.2±0.2, which belonged to normal range. 92.4% of subjects have nuclear family type, 83.9% of them get up at 6~7 o'clock in the morning and 39.9% of them spent 10~30 thousand won as pocket money for one month. While 90.6% of students residing at dormitory go to bed after 12 at night, 86.3% of students residing at their own house did. 88.7% of students residing at dormitory sleep for less than 6 hours and 51.4% of students residing at their own house sleep 6 to 7 hours and there was a significant difference between two group. But, 90.5% of research subjects had satisfaction with their sleeping below normal level. On dietary habits of research subjects, 92.5% of students residing at dormitory always had breakfast, but 60.5% of students resident at their own house did and 81% of all students had breakfast with Korean foods. 75.9% of all students had snack after dinner and 96.2% of students residing at dormitory did and there was significant difference depending on residential environment. They had confectionery, bread, fruits, instant or fast foods as their favorite snacks. 46.8% of the subjects didn't have coffee, 54.7% of them didn't have any tea and there was significant difference depending on residential types. 32.0% of the subjects confirmed nutrient ingredient and 82.6% obtained nutrition related information from TV, internet or their friends. 59.5% of the subjects had fast foods once to twice a month and 37.0% of reasons when they chose fast foods were for hungry, 21.8% for taste and there were significant differences in frequency, reasons and standards of having fast foods depending on residential types. 69.8% of students residing at dormitory did exercise three to five times a week, 39.9% of students residing at their own house did once to twice a week, 47.2% of students residing at dormitory did exercise within 30 min. a day and 34.21% of students residing at their own home did within 15 min a day, and there were significant differences in frequency and hours of exercise depending on residential types. Students residing at their own house showed undesirable trend in dietary behaviors like breakfast, exercise habit and fast food ingestion behavior compared to students residing at dormitory. In conclusion, nutrition education for making right dietary behavior and habits of high school students should be achieved at home as well as at school.
