A Study on the Relationship Between Environmental Preservation Consciousness and Clothing Attitude & Clothing-buying Behavior for Adolescents

This study aimed to examine the relationship between environmental preservation consciousness and clothing attitude & clothing-buying behavior in adolescents, and to offer basic data essential for clothing-life guidance and for the clothing-related unit for the guidance of adolescents based on this. Research survey data was obtained from 692 students in Gwangju City. The collected data were calculated by SPSS 14.0 program and evaluated using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation t-test, one-way ANOVA, Duncan-test, and x2-Test. The results of this study are as follows: The students with lower environmental preservation consciousness usually purchased clothing due to the need of outdoor garments. The higher environmental preservation consciousness group usually selected clothing according to the design. Although they demonstrated environmental preservation consciousness, they were not eager to buy environmental-marked products or used clothing. Based on the above findings, there is a need for education on ecofriendly consumption in clothing and in clothing-buying behavior in general.
