영재아 어머니가 지각하는 성공적인 영재교육의 요건

Gifted Students' Mothers' Perception on Successful Gifted Education: Using Concept-Mapping Approach

본 연구에서는 개념도 방법을 사용하여 영재학생 어머니들이 인식하는 성공적인 영재교육과 영재학생 어머니들이 지각하는 성공적인 영재교육의 실행수준은 어느 정도인지를 탐색적으로 밝히고자 하였다. 진술문의 추출, 분류, 평정작업을 위한 단계에서는 동료 영재학부모들의 추천을 받고 평소 영재교육의 운영에 관심이 많은 10명의 영재학부모들이 참여하였으며, 여기서 도출된 성공적인 영재교육의 인식에 대한 중요도와 실행수준 평정을 위해 강원, 인천, 전라 지역의 영재학부모 125명이 설문에 참여하였다. 성공적인 영재교육 인식에 대한 브레인스토밍 결과를 토대로 진술문을 종합한 결과 58개의 진술문이 도출 되었으며 이들 58개의 진술문에 대한 비유사성 평정 자료를 사용하여 다차원 척도분석을 실시한 결과 2차원 개념도 제작에 적합한 stress 값은 .253으로 나타났다. 개념도에 나타난 진술문의 좌표 값을 기초로 위계적 군집 분석을 실시한 결과, 성공적인 영재교육 인식은 5개의 범주로 이루어져있었으며, 각 범주명은 ‘학교교육의 역할’,‘영재교육의 정책적 제언’,‘영재 특성 지지’,‘어머니의 역할’,‘영재교사의 역할’로 제시되었다. 영재학생의 어머니들은 성공적인 영재교육의 중요도 인식에서‘학교교육의 역할’‘영재교육의 정책적 제언’‘어머니의 역 할’‘영재교사의 역할’‘영재특성 지지’순으로 그 중요도를 인식하고 있는 것으로 성공적인 영재교육의 실현을 위해 학교와 정책적 역할을 매우 중요하게 지각하고 있었다. 그러나 흥미롭게도 영재교육의 실행 수준에 대한 인식에서는 ‘학교교육의 역할’과‘영재교육의 정책적 제언’이 가장 낮은 실행수준으로 지각되었다.

The purpose of this study was to explore gifted students' mothers' perception on the successful gifted education by concept-mapping and find out the importance of each statement describing the desirable qualities of gifted education and their perceived level of practice. For this, 10 gifted students' mothers solicited, gathered and analyzed related statements, and then did multidimensional scaling and hierarchical cluster analysis. The stress value was 253 which was appropriate for the two level concept mapping study. In addition 125 mothers of gifted students rated the importance of each describing qualities of gifted education and their perceived level of practice. Results were as follows: First, 58 statements were solicited and as a result of concept mapping, perception on the successful gifted education was categorized as 'role of school', 'proposal for gifted education policy', 'support for the characteristics of gifted students', 'role of gifted students' mothers', and 'role of gifted education teachers'. There were significant differences between importance and practice levels across all 5 categories. Implications of the study related to gifted education practices were discussed.
