어휘부 등재 논의의 경향과 쟁점

A discussion of complex words’ lexical representation in the mental lexicon

본고는 현재까지의 ‘어휘부 등재’에 대한 논의의 경향과 쟁점을 ‘등재 연구의 차원, 등재의 기준, 등재 연구의 대상’ 셋으로 나누어 살펴보고, 각각의 보완점을 모색함으로써 어휘부 연구가 지향해야 할 바를 제시하려 하였다. ‘등재 연구의 차원’에서는 등재 연구에는 거시적･사회적 차원과 미시적･심리적 차원 두 가지가 있는데 연구에 있어서 각각에 적절한 개념과 방법론을 사용해야 한다는 점을 논의하였다. ‘등재의 기준’에서는 어떤 단위의 등재 여부를 판단할 때 이론적 기준은 새로운 사실을 밝혀주지 못하는 경우가 많기 때문에 이론 논의를 중심으로 하는 방법론은 지양해야 한다고 보았다. 마지막으로 ‘연구의 범위’에서는 현재까지의 논의의 중심인 ‘파생어의 등재와 산출’에서 벗어나 좀 더 다양한 단위의 등재, 산출, 저장 조직에 관심을 기울일 필요가 있다는 점을 강조하였다.

Complex lexical representation is a matter of hotly contested debate, because it is closely related with word formation that has been a center of discussion on Korean morphology, and a lot of recent research on morphology promotes research focused on the mental lexicon. This writing reviewed research on the lexical representation of Korean language, and then examined the problems of the research, which needs to be supplemented in terms of materials and the measures to effectively handle them. The psychological experiment is suggested as an effective measure that can reveal the features of mental lexicon.
