산업 대도시에서의 근린 공동체 관계와 재생의 방향

Neighborhood Community Relations and the Direction of Regeneration in Industrial Metropolises Focusing on the Comparison of the Residents’ Consciousness in Incheon and Ulsan

이 글은 산업 대도시에서의 근린 공동체 관계와 재생의 방향을 인천과 울산의 주민의식 자료에 입각하여 비교하고 있다. 근린 공동체 관계의 측면에서는 울산보다 인천에서 이웃과의 친밀도, 공동체 프로그램의 개최 정도 및 참여도 등이 좀 더 활성화되어 있는 것으로 나타난다. 재생 방향의 측면에서는 울산보다 인천에서 복지 및 문화, 지역정체성, 역사 문화 자원 보존 등의 생활재생 사업이 비교적 활발하다. 이 글의 연구 결과는 산업 대도시별로 도시화 역사, 제조업 특성 등에 따라 근린 공동체 관계와 이에 근거한 재생의 방향을 둘러싸고 주민의식의 차이가 나타남을 보여준다.

This paper deals with the neighborhood community relations and the direction of regeneration in industrial metropolises. Results of the survey shows that residents in Incheon and Ulsan tend to have relatively low levels of the participation in their local community programs. With respect to the consciousness about factors of the regeneration project, they tend to focus more on the environmental preservation, urban landscapes and the housing and transportation than on the welfare issues and historical cultural resources. The implication of this study is that local governments in Korea should establish the comprehensive master plan for the neighborhood regeneration on the basis of residents’ living as well as their environmental needs.
