탄광노동자계급의 직업정체성에 관한 연구

Job Identity of the Coal Miner Class in Jangseung Mine at Taebeak

이 논문은 석탄산업합리화사업과 함께 전체 노동자계급에서 주변화되고 있는 탄광노동자의 정체성 형성과 관련한 요인들을 구체적으로 탐구하고자 한다. 탄광노동자의 전체적 비중은 낮지만 탄광이 몰려 있는 강원남부 지역에서는 전체 산업활동인구 중에서 상당한 수를 차지하고 있어 하나의 부문노동자계급으로서 특성을 강하게 표출하고 있다. 또한 석탄산업은 지역의존적 특성이 강한 탓에 하나의 지역노동자로서의 성격도 지니고 있다. 이 글은 부문노동자계급으로서의 계급적 특성과 지역적 특성을 공히 지니고 있는 탄광노동자의 정체성 형성을 규명하기 위한 작업으로 직업정체성이라는 개념을 도입한다. 이는 맑스주의적 계급형성론의 추상성과 주류사회학의 직무만족이론이 갖는 개별성 사이에 있는 중위수준의 개념으로 설정한다. 이를 바탕으로 탄광노동자가 처한 생산적 조건(임금, 각종 노동조건 등)과 재생산 조건(주거조건, 소비환경 등 각종 생활환경)을 파악하고 이것들이 탄광노동자의 직업정체성에 미치는 영향을 고찰해보았다.

This article investigates the factors related to the identity formation of coal miner class that have marginalized with the coal industry promotion policy. Although the ratio of the coal miner to the working class in the whole is low, in the southern Kangwon province where coal mine concentrated, the ratio is substantially high and thereby the coal miner heavily represents the character as a sector of working class. And also due to the region-dependency of the coal industry the regionality affects the process of identity formation of the coal miner. Thus we introduce the concept of job identity to simultaneously capture these two character. This concept is that of meso-instance between the abstractness of the Marxist class-formation theory and individuality of the job satisfaction theory in the bourgeois social sciences. Based on the concept, we investigated the productive condition(wage, working conditions etc.) and the reproductive condition(housing and consuming condition etc.) of the coal miner class, the effect of both to them.
