A study on the wearing motivations of sensuous clothing of unmarried females

The main purpose of this study was to identify the wearing motivations of unmarried females on sensuous clothing. This study investigated (1) the extent of awarness on sexual incentive, (2) the wearing experience, (3) the wearing motivations, and (4) the appraisal of situational appropriateness of the sensuous clothing. In addition, the selecting motivations of daily clothing was examined. The questionnaire was distributed to 400 unmarried females in Kwangju. Data from 331 respondents were analyzed using Frequency, Percentage, χ²-test, ANOVA and Duncan test. The results were as follows : 1) The clothing of sexual incentives was regarded as garments plunging front necklines, micro-mini skirt, hot pants, see-through garments, in orders. 2) The wearing experience was found to be high in order of tight jeans, clinging knit wear, bare shoulders, see-through garments, hot pants, and micro-mini skirt. 3) The principal wearing motivations of the sensuous clothing were considered to be selfsatisfaction, comfort, individuality and freedom. 4) It was found that wearing tight jeans, grunge jeans, clinging knit wears, and bare shoulders were considered appropriately in general situations excluding a few formal situations but wearing the garments plunging front neckline was considered inapproprate in most situations.
