The Study of Haircut Trends on Structure Graphics - Based on from 1997 to 2004 the PIVOT POINT Design Forum

This study aims to analyze contemporary hairstyles by investigating haircuts through structure graphics. For this, structure graphics in haircuts in the Design Forum Technical Manuals from 1997 to 2004 were analyzed. Three analyzers who have completed the PIVOT POINT haircut program with a Ph.D. or higher degree recorded each structure graphics on the coding sheet. SPSS 18.0 was used to analyze data, and frequency and percentage were investigated. The following results were obtained: First, a mixed style (mixture of 2 or 3 styles) was the most common in types of haircut. As hair was shorter, the portion of mixture increased. Second, disconnected structure graphics were observed in the case of long hair and shortcuts. Third, in terms of hair length, the hair at the back and sides of the head was fairly similar to average hair length. However, different hair length was observed in the fringe. Fourth, in terms of cutting technique, leisure cutting and mixed cutting were most common. Recently, light and soft hairstyles have been the fashion. For this, mixed haircut, non-connected structure graphics and leisure and mixed cutting techniques have been used.
