The purpose of this study was to investigate the children’s self-esteem and the related variables such as sex, social class, perceived social support. The subjects were 412 elementary students in Inchon. The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, one way ANOVA, Duncan test, multiple regression and path model analysis. The results were as follows; 1. The children’s self-esteem showed the significant differences in reference to sex of children and the perceived social support. But there was no significant difference with social c1ass. It was found that boy’s self-esteem was higher than girl’s and the children with high perceived social support showed higher self-esteem than the children with middle and low class of perceived social support. 2. In the causal relation analysis between self-esteem and the related variables, perceived social support and sex of the children showed the direct influences to and social class showed the indirect influence to children’s self-esteem.
