The purpose of this study is to investigate how the costumes shown in some of the hollywood movies during 1960 ~ 1970’s influence on fashion in the late 20th century. The contents are summarized as follows : The 1960’s movie costumes can be devided according to the design characterics: Bonnie look. Hippie look and Space look. The 1970’s : Robert Redford’s clothes in the Sting, the Gatsby look, the Annie Hall look What movie costumes characteristic and how it is transformed into the fashion of the late 20th century are summarized as follows : 1. Disco-era fashion in the movies of the 1960’s and 1970’s were revived as fashion of the 1990’s as the retro trend. Nowadays, costume style in movie usually used for men have been changed into the to women’s items and are now shown as Androgenous look. 2. In the 1960’s, influenced by the hippie culture of the America, movies used Hippie look to a great extent. In the 1990’s the situation seems to be repeated, where movies are now using a neo-hippie look expressed in a more womanly, soft and light image. 3. The Space look in SF movies in 1960’s appeared as cyber-space look. With the help of technological style it continuously developed until the late 20th century. Through this study, you can see that movie costumes do not show just the characteristics of movies but creates fashion as representing the past, present and future. It gives us new, simple, and unique styles and as the costumes begin to lead our fashion.
