Practices of Social Research and the Production of Local Survey Data

대학의 사회조사실습 수업 진행 중에 대면면접 설문조사를 실시하면서, 사회조사실습의 선수과목인 사회조사방법론 수업시간에 배운 표준적인 자료수집방식을 그대로 실행하기는 무척 어려운 것이 현실적 사정이다. 무엇보다도 표본 대체의 문제가 심각하며, 조사된 표본의 크기가 작은 경우도 많다. 이렇게 확보한 자료의 질을 높이는 방안으로 적절한 준거질문을 구성하여, 반복적 서베이 조사를 함으로써 표본의 대표성의 수준을 확인하는 것을 제안하였다. 진주시에서의 조사를 근거로 준거질문의 예들을 제시하였고, 아울러 경험적 양적 조사의 질을 높일 수 있는 몇 가지 방법을 제안하였다.

While carrying out the face to face survey research during the social research practices class, it is usually hard to put standard way of collecting data into action which was covered in method of social research class. Above all, the problem of the sample substitution is serious issue and in many cases the sample size is too small. To enhance the quality of these survey data, reference questions are composed, and it is suggested to confirm the level of representativeness of the sample by repeating the same survey research. Examples of reference questions which are based on the research of the Jinju-si are suggested, and several ways to enhance the quality of empirical quantitative research are also proposed.
