A Study on the Construct Building of Supply Chain Performance in a Port

This paper concentrates on conceptualizing the supply chain performance in a port and developing its sub-dimensions. A cross-sectional survey was conducted with organizations of trading port in Korea, i.e., port authority and company, regional maritime affairs, and port offices, and terminal operators, to evaluate their perceived supply chain performance in port logistics service from both production efficiency and service effectiveness perspectives. Based on the supply chain reference model and various established measures, a measurement model and instrument for supply chain performance in a port logistics are developed. The empirical results suggest that the measurement items are classified into three a priori dimensions and each dimension consists of two sub-dimensions. The study's findings provide managerial insights for port authorities to understand their supply chain performance in the international logistics.
