Career-Related Issues for Women in Logistics: Female versus Male Perspectives

In recent years many women have majored in business or logistics and are now working in management positions. While there have been a limited number of academic studies that have examined women in the transportation/logistics industry, none has researched about opportunities and working environments for women logisticians. This research identified both positive and negative aspects regarding how female logisticians perceive their career perspectives in terms of their salary level, glass ceiling perception, job satisfactions comparing with male logisticians. This study should encourage both of them to begin a dialogue concerning these issues. Once these problems are recognized and examined, fair-minded CEOs committed to gender diversity will be able to ameliorate, if not solve, these gender-based concerns.
