項穆 서예미학의 中庸的 인간관 연구

儒ㆍ佛ㆍ道 三敎는 동양문화를 지탱해온 중요 문화이다. 서로 영향을 주고받으며 동양의 문화를 창도해 왔다고 할 수 있다. 그 가운데에서도 유가는 사회를 구성하는 가장 실질적인 학문으로써, 역사적으로 사회 문화를 건설하는 제일의 원칙으로 사용되어져 왔다. 사회를 이끌어 온 힘은 유가의 윤리의식이라고 해도 과언이 아니다. 다시 말하면 유가적 사유는 당시 지식인들의 중요 관심사였으며, 유가의 윤리의식은 사회 문화 전 분야에 걸쳐 그 원리가 실효적으로 적용되고 있다고 할수 있다. 즉 당시 지식인들에게 있어서 유가적 사유는 절대적이었음을 의미한다. 서예 창작자에게도 유가의 윤리의식이 미치는 영향은 절대적이었다고 할 수 있다. 그래서 유가의 세례를 받은 당시 지식인들이 바라보는 서예라는 예술의 심미의 식은 역시 유가적 시선일 수밖에 없다. 유가의 윤리의식은 인륜의 도를 실현하는 것이다. 그것은 修己ㆍ治人으로 일컬어지는 인격완성과 완성된 인간의 사회교화기능에 기댄다는 것을 의미한다. 善循環的인 자연의 변화를 이해하고, 그 변화를 주도하는 원리를 파악하여, 우주 자연과 합일을 도모하는 儒家는 도덕적 사회를 건설하는 데 개인의 역량을 총합적으로 발휘하게 된다. 그 능력은 나의 智的 直覺 능력을 통한 문화 창달의식을 타자에게 전이시키는 일이다. 이러한 점에서 서예라는 예술은 단순히 인간의 느낀 감정을 표현하는 예술이 아니다. 그 안에는 한 인격이 살아 숨쉬는 예술이며, 자연과 더불어 평화롭게 조화를 이루며 공존하는 예술이고, 나아가 부도덕한 세상을 교화시키는 治人的 요소도 들어있다고 하겠다. 인격 수양과 관련된 유가의 강령은 項穆의 서예미학사상 곳곳에 녹아 있다. 項穆에게 절대적인 영향을 끼친 孫過庭의 말을 빌리자면, 한 인격이 성숙해가는 ‘人書俱老’적 예술이 서예라고 할 수 있다. 때문에 서예라는 예술은 인격 형성을 위한 예술이며, 완성된 인격미가 발산되어 타자를 교화시키는 교화적 예술이라고 할 수 있다.

Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism is important culture supported to Eastern culture. It created Eastern culture over influence each other. Confucianism among Eastern philosophy is historically considered first principle to establish society culture as the most actual study. The power leading society is Confucianism ethics. Basically to say Confucian thinking is significant concern of educated person and Confucianism ethics is actually effected spheres society. Confucianism ethics had absolutely a significance at that time to educated person. Confucianism ethics also had absolutely a significance to calligraphy creater. After that passeddown, the rule of Confucianism ethics had been dominating our aesthetic conscious. In other words, Aesthetic conscious of art that educated person was overlooking must be Confucianism point of view. The purpose of Confucianism ethics is to realize man’s moral. It means personality completion as improving myself and ruling others and function for social enlightenment of completed person. Confucianism that understanding virtuous circled nature changing and cause, promoting to unit with nature assist to prove individual capability to construct moral society. The ability spread to other cultural development by my intelligent and immediate perception. In this way, Calligraphy isn’t simply art to express felling of human. It’s art living and breathing personality, balancing and harmony with nature, furthermore reforming immoral society. According to gwa-jung Song, “Letter and man old together.” That is, Calligraphy is to ripe up personality as intellectual.
