The Analysis of Learning Experience for Students with Disabilities

본 연구는 장애학생의 입시 경험에 영향을 주는 리질리언스를 탐색해 보기 위해 장애 대학입시라는 이중적 역경 속에서 ‘우수대학 입학’이라는 객관적 성과와 적응을 이루어낸 학생들의 학습경험의 위협요인과 보호요인을 분석하였다. 연구 참여자는 S대학과 Y대학의 재학생 8명이며, 면담 내용은 지속비교분석법을 통해 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 장애로 인한 ‘체력 저하’, 자신감이나 학습동기의 부족으로 인한 ‘심리적 어려움’, ‘장애수용의 어려움’ 등이 개인 내부적 위협요인으로 드러났다. 또한 개인 외부의 위협요인으로는 ‘부모의 낮은 학업지지’, ‘학습 환경 미비’ 등이 있었다. 장애로 인한 위협요인에도 불구하고 상위권 대학 입학이라는 객관적 적응을 이루어내는 데 영향을 미친 보호요인으로는 ‘강한 의지’, ‘적절한 학업 전략 사용’, ‘타고난 능력’, ‘장애수용’ 등의 내부적 요인이 있었다. 또한 ‘부모의 학업지지’, ‘장애인 공동체지지’ 그리고 더 나아가 특별전형이라는 ‘국가의 제도’가 외적인 보호요인으로 작용한 것으로 나타났다.

This paper is a qualitative study that analyzes educational experience especially students with disabilities in their preparation for taking university entrance exam. The purpose of this study is to investigate how resilientfactors affect overcoming their disabilities which is one of the most adversity in their studies and road for success. Seven participants with disabilities who enrolled in top class universities in South Korea were interviewed. The result of study indicated that the personal protective factors were optimistic character, strong-mindedness, and high level of learning ability. Parents support was weak factor for some participants and protective factor for the others. Non-scheduled admission procedure for the disabled was an environmental protective factor. The limitations of this study and implications for further research are mentioned.
