과학과 기술이 발달함에 따라 인간에게 편의를 제공하는 다양한 상품들이 개발되었으며, 컴퓨터와 인터넷 통신망의 발달ㆍ확대로 다양한 문화의 폭넓은 공유가 가능해 짐으로써 삶의 질은 더욱 더 향상되었다. 그러나 인간의 삶의 질이 향상됨에도 불구하고 복잡해진 사회 속에서 다양한 욕구의 충돌과 폭주하는 지식, 더욱이 물질만능주의 세태는 인간을 더욱 더 피폐하게 만들고 있다. 즉, 그 어느 때보다도 정신적인 가치가 소외되고 있으며 반면 정신적인 치유와 요구들이 더 중요하게 받아들여져야 하는 것이다. 이에 귀금속 공예품의 아름다움과 정교함, 기능성을 넘어서 인간에게 정신적인 평안을 느끼게 할 수 있는 순화의 기능에 관심을 갖게 되었으며, 본 연구는 이러한 관점에서 귀금속공예 제품의 이미지를 자연친화적인 형태를 모티브로 하게 되었다. 우리나라 전통 건축 중 하나인 정자는 ‘자연과 하나가 되는 공간’이다. 각박한 일상에서 한번쯤 자연으로 돌아가 산과 바다가 주는 경이로움과 평온함으로 정신을 깨치고 정화하는 여유로움을 작은 공예품 안에 담아 귀금속 공예품이 현대인에게 정신적 위안이 될 수 있는 제품을 제작하고자 하였다.

With the rapid advancement of science and technology, human beings are offered to enjoy more convenient products. The quality of lives is improved especially by that the development and expansion of personal computers and the internet networks enable people to share a great variety of different cultures. Though the quality of people’s lives is improved, conflict among diverse human desires, massive flood of knowledge in a complicated society and materialism become a factor that shatters and destroys human lives. In other words, the spiritual value is excluded than ever and spiritual cure and demand have been regarded as a more important factor. I am interested in the right function which makes feel peace of mind for human getting over beauty, elaboration and functionality of jewelry crafts. And I got an environmentally friendly motive to make a jewelry craft in this study. A summer house, Korean traditional construction is ‘a space of united with nature’. I intend our contemporaries get back to nature and relax, clean there mind by nature’s wonder. I would like to produce a jewelry craft which can make our contemporaries comfortable.
