영화 속에 재현된 교사의 이미지

A Study on the Images of Teachers Represented in Films

이 논문은 영화 속에서 재련된 교사의 이미지를 분석한 질적 내용분석 연구이다. 이 연구의 목적은 교사가 등장하는 2000년대에 제작된 영화 속에 재현된 교사들의 이미지를 오천석(1972)의 ‘스승의 네 요소’를 준거로 분석하였다. 연구대상으로 선정한 여섯 편의 영화는 모두 신자유주의의 이데올로기가 사회ㆍ경제ㆍ문화 영역뿐만 아니라, 교육계에서 막대한 영향력을 끼친 2000년대에 제작된 영화들로 분명 이들 영화 속에는 신자유주의의 이데올로기가 우리 교육계에 미친 영향을 담아내고 있다. 그러나 그것은 극의 중심에 서 있지 않고 중심인물의 주변에서 그려지고 있다. 다시 말해 중심인물의 주변은 신자유주의의 이데올로기로 인하여 다양한 변화를 겪고 또 그것을 중심인물에 강요하지만, 이것은 단지 중심인물이 극복해야 하는 시련 정도로 그려지고 있다. 영화 속에서 재현된 대중이 기대하는 교사의 모습은 현실과 큰 차이가 있다. 따라서 대중은 영화 속에 재현된 교사의 모습과 현실의 모습에 대해 비판적 의식을 가지고 바르게 인식할 필요가 있다. 또한 교사도 대중이 바라는 기대치를 정확히 인식하고 이를 만족시킴으로서 전문직으로서 교사의 지위를 확고히 하기 위한 노력을 기울여야 한다.

This study is qualitative content analysis research that analyzes the image of teachers recreated in movies. The purpose of this study is to analyze the image of teachers recreated in the movies produced in the 2000s, with the ‘four factors of teacher’ by Oh(1972), as standard. As to the research topics, there are; first, what is the image of teacher’s vocation recreated in movies? Second, what is the image of love by teachers, as recreated in movies? Third, what is the image of modesty by teachers, as recreated in movies? Fourth, what is the image of openness of teachers, as recreated in movies? Fifth, what are the lessons of the teachers’ image recreated in the movies? Movies reflect the culture of the time. The six movies selected for this research are produced in the 2000s, when neoliberal ideology influenced the education a lot. Nevertheless, the main images of the teachers who lead the movie are that of ‘traditional teachers’. This means what kind of teachers the public wants. Even though ideology of the age changes, public still expects teachers have vocation and devote themselves to the students with love. The image of teachers expected by the public and recreated in movies are different from the reality. Therefore, it needs to recognize the image of recreated teachers in the movies and real teachers, with critical perspective. Also, teachers need to recognize the expectation of the public and satisfy it, to make one’s position resolute.
