고등학교 학생들의 다문화교육에 대한 인식과 태도 연구

A Study on the Awareness and Attitude about Multicultural Education of High School Students

최근 우리나라는 빠른 속도로 다문화사회로 진입하고 있음으로 다문화에 대한 이해가 필요하다. 이에 본 연구는 다문화교육에 대한 고등학생들의 인식 및 태도를 알아보기 위해 수행되었다. 이를 위하여 경기도 소재 고등학교 2학년 학생 552명을 대상으로 질문지 조사를 실시하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 다른 나라 사람이해교육의 필요성에 대해서는 약 절반이 필요하다 이상에 응답하였다. 둘째, 학교에서의 다문화교육 경험유무에 대해서는 다문화교육경험이 없다고 응답한 비율이 87.5%로 나타났다. 셋째, 다문화가정 청소년에 대한 인식, 문화적 다양성과 문화교류에 대한 인식 및 다문화교육에 대한 인식에 대해 보통 정도의 반응을 보였다. 넷째, 다문화가정 청소년에 대한 인식, 문화적 다양성과 문화교류에 대한 인식 및 다문화교육에 대한 인식차이는 성별로는 큰 차이가 없었으나 계열별로 인문계고등학교 학생들이 특성화고등학교 학생들보다 더 높게 나타났다. 학생들이 다문화교육경험이 있는 경우 다문화 가정 청소년과 다문화교육에 대한 인식이 더 높게 나타났다.

This study examined high school students’ awareness and attitudes about multicultural education to understand directions of multicultural education. The research questions for achieving the purpose are as follows. First, How are the degrees of general awareness and experience of high school students on multicultural education? Second, How is the awareness and attitude by personal variables on multicultural education of high school students? The subjects of this study were 554 high school students located in Kyeonggi province, who were answered to the questionnaires. The questionnaires contained three types 30 statements: the awareness about students from multicultural families, cultural diversities and exchange, and multicultural education. The data were analyzed by χ² and t test. The results are as follows. First, on the basis of above, with respect to the reliability data, it is apparent that high school students survey is adequately reliable. Second, those who feel the need for multicultural education to understand people from different countries were more than half of the respondents. Third, the high school students showed insufficient experience in multicultural education for students. Fourth, the awareness about students from multicultural families, the awareness about cultural diversities and exchange, and awareness about multicultural education of respondents were moderate and were significant differences by schools.
