Incoterms are contractual sales standard trade terms most commonly used internationally and the 7th Revision, Incoterms 2010, came into force on January 1, 2011, to replace Incoterms 2000. This rules take account of the continued spread of customs-free zones, the increased use of electronic communications, increasing concern about security in the good’s movement, and changing in transport practices, etc. In this study, I reviewed the new rules and focused more on FOB and CIF which are frequently being used in Korea customarily. There are some important changes. Among them, concerning “transfer of risks and goods delivery, the risk and the goods transfer when the goods are placing on board the vessel instead of passing the ship’s rail. It became more obvious and clear than before. But there still remains some problems reducing the gap between the new Incoterms rules and the current transport practices in order to bring the rules in line with Incoterms 2010’s purpose of revision. To use both of the rules; FOB and CIF correctly, it requires more attention and study continuously.
